Isolation by Gaby Jordens, Aäron Zootjes, Maja Hammerlinck & Angelina van den Bos, sculpture, 2025.

"This artwork was inspired by the artist Jimi Kleinbruinink. Many of his works consist of different materials that together form a tilting tower and symbolise isolation and loneliness. We have tried to apply this same idea in our artwork.

'Isolation' consists of cubicles, each made from different materials that can be found in a normal household, such as aluminium foil, cardboard, ice lolly sticks, straws and plastic. These stacked and separated cubicles symbolise isolation and loneliness. The cubicles closely resemble prison cells and are positioned in such a way that they form a tilting tower, inspired by the style of Jimi Kleinbruinink.

The “prison cells” in our artwork represent the different forms of isolation that people can experience. These cages and towers have been deliberately incorporated into the artwork to reinforce its meaning.

In addition, the artwork is surrounded by original sketches made during the design process. These sketches have been combined into a background, allowing us to show the development of our ideas and visually connect the different concepts."
